AFFIRMED BY SWISS .JOURNALIST AFTER TOUR OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND. MORALE OF THE PEOPLE HIGH. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 22. Four conclusions were reached by the correspondent of the Swiss newspaper “Basler Nachrichten,” who has been making “an extensive tour of the defence zone in southern England, during which I saw the results of the recent raids on military objectives.’’ The conclusions as a result of this tour, during which “I was allowed to go where I wished and make what inquiries I chose without any restrictions whatever,” were: —
"First, the organisation of the ground defences is impressive; secondly, the damage done to military or civil objectives in the defence zone is minute; thirdly, the British official announcements are thus shown to be accurate; and, fourthly, the German attempt to undermine the morale of the British people ?.s completely failed.”
