MADE BY ENEMY BOMBERS ON BRITAIN
Small Numbers of Aircraft Operating NO ABATEMENT OF R.A.F. OFFENSIVE MANY IMPORTANT TARGETS BOMBED Enemy air attacks on England yesterday Were carried out by a small number of aircraft, operating singly in widespread areas, a Daventry broadcast states. Indiscriminate machine-gun attacks, made in various parts of the Midlands and one eastern district, caused some casualties, but none of these was fatal. Four enemy raiders were shot down. It is now established that ten German planes were shot down on Thursday. Targets in Germany bombed by the R.A.F. on Thursday night included synthetic oil plants, aircraft factories and a power station, high explosive factories and docks. Railway junctions were also attacked and goods siding bombed as usual, besides 22 aerodromes in Germany and German-occupied territory. The strong forces of bombers engaged returned safely, with the exception that one made a forced landing in Britain and the crew were killed. Coastal Command aircraft bombed two German aerodromes in France, setting fire to hangars and buildings.
