SERVICE OF PRAYER

OPERA HOUSE THIS AFTERNOON. LARGE ATTENDANCE OF WORSHIPPERS. The service of prayer held in the Opera House this afternoon was largely attended, there being an increased number compared with last week. The service was conducted by Archdeacon Rich, and the readings were taken by the Revs. H. Kings and Taiapa. The addresses were given by the Rev. D. McNeur, who spoke on Christian service, and the Rev. T. V. Pearson, who took for his subject “Spiritual work as Revealed by Prayer.’’ Prayers were offered by the Revs. V. W. Joblin and John Davie.

In view of the important national aspect, the prayer meetings are to be continued, and their value would undoubtedly be increased by a still larger attendance of the public. A correspondent suggests that, as the time (12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.) was inconvenient for a number of people the meetings should be held at the usual hour on one Wednesday and 3.30 p.m. on the next.
