R.A.F. BOMBING IN AFRICA
DAMAGE DONE IN VARIOUS AREAS. ITALIANS CHASED AWAY FROM MALTA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) RUGBY. August 20. An R.A.F. communique, issued at Cairo on. Tuesday, states: "During the night of August 18/19, our bombers attacked Derna. A salvo of bombs was observed to fall near the harbour jetty and among shipping.-Bombs were dropped on the camp and petrol dump of Bir El Gobi. A satellite aerodrome also was attacked yesterday. "Three enemy aircraft approached within 35 miles of Malta, but made off when our fighters went up. Later another small force was reported, but it also turned away when our fighters took off. “Aircraft of the R.A.F. successfully covered the evacuation of British Somaliland.
‘•When our bombers attacked a petrol dump at Batie, in Abyssinia, all the bombs were dropped within the target area.”
