HOLD-UP OF NEWS

NOT TO BE TOLERATED IN BRITAIN REVIEW OF CENSORSHIP METHODS. ACTION TO OVERCOME DELAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 20. The “Daily Telegraph” says immediate steps are being taken to remedy some of the complaints of an excessively rigid censorship of messages for abroad during air raids on this country. The recently-appointed DirectorGeneral of the Ministry of Information, Mi- Frank Pick, conferred with the heads of his departments, and it is understood he told them that a hold-up of news similar to the nine-hour delay in releasing to America the British version of the German attacks on Friday must not occur again. He added that if the censorship machinery was blameable, it must be scrapped.
