AIRMAN’S DEATH
BOROUGH COUNCIL TRIBUTE. SON OF FORMER TOWN CLERK. Reference to the tragic death of Leading-Aircraftsman E. T. Denbee, only son of a former Town Clerk. Mr T. T. Denbee and Mrs Denbee, was made at a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night. It was'decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mr and Mrs Denbee and family in their loss.
"He was a sterling young man and it was particularly unfortunate that his life should be cut so short,” stated the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, in paying tribute to Leading-Aircraftsman Denbee’s fine qualities.
“Long experience of him as a pupil at the Wairarapa High School made me hold him in great respect. He was an unusually unselfish boy and I wish to add my personal tribute,” stated Councillor G. W. Morice.
“I have never seen a pluckier footballer and a better sport.. He was a thorough gentleman.” observed Councillor D. G. Wilson, adding his tribute to the previous speakers’ remarks.
