LOOK AFTER YOUR FUR
KEEP IT IN GOOD ORDER. First of all, see* 1 that your furs, while not in use. are always hanging upside down: it keeps long-haired furs fluffy and lively-looking. Try to keep any long-haired fur scarf or collar away from your neck as much as possible, for perspiration is ruinous. Wearing a small fabric scarf not only prevents wear and tear on the fur collar, but helps to keep it immaculate so that your neck will stay likewise. Never put your furs (coats, scarves or jackets) away after wearing them without a vigorous shaking. When the animals were alive they did this themselves; now you have to give them their stirring-up exercises. When you shake, hold the piece upside down. This activity revives the rubbed parts, or portions that get themselves pressed down by wear. When your coat gets wet don’t, start fussing with it. Hang it up as quickly as you can and forget about it until it’s dry, at which time give it a good shaking. At all costs, wet or dry. keep your furs away from artificial heat—they don’t like it.
