PUBLIC NOTICES. MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND. In the matter of "The Counties’ Act, 1920,” and "The Public Works Act, 1928.” NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Masterton County Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-men-tioned Acts, to execute a certain public work, namely, the construction of a public road, and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken, AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Office of the County Clerk to the said Council, situate at Chapel Street, Masterton, and is open for inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours. All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands, who have any wellgrounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, must state their objections in writing and send the same within forty (40) days from the first publication of this Notice to the Masterton County Council, at the aforesaid office.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a Special Meeting of the Masterton County Council, held on TUESDAY, the 13th day of August, 1940, the following Resolution was passed:— "THAT in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926,’ and ‘The Rural Housing Act, 1939,’ and all other Acts and powers (if any) it in that behalf enabling, the Masterton County Council hereby resolves by way of Special Order as follows:— 1. THAT the Council proceed to raise from the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand a Loan of Ten Thousand Pounds (£10,000), oi' so much thereof as may be required for the purpose of making advances to farmers for the erection of dwellings under "The Rural Housing Act, 1939.” 2. THAT such Loan be called "The Masterton County Rural Housing Loan, No. 1, 1940, of £10,000.” 3. THAT the Council repay half-year-ly in reduction of the Loan an amount equal to the sum of all amounts which are expressed to be payable to the Council during the half-year ending on each halfyearly date by the agreements entered into with the Council by the various farmers to whom the Loan moneys are to be advanced. 4. THAT interest at the rate of Three (3) per centum per annum on unpaid principal be paid by the Council, calculated on the daily debtor balance of the Council in the accounts of the lender. 5. THAT the Council doth hereby appropriate and pledge as security for the charges in respect of such Loan, a Special Rate of One twenty-seventh (l-27d) of One Penny in the Pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the whole of the County of Masterton. 6. THAT the cost of raising the Loan and the first year’s interest and sinking fund shall NOT be paid out of the Loan.” AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the above Special Order will be submitted for confirmation at an Ordinary Meeting of the Masterton County Council, to be held on TUESDAY, the 10th day of September, 1940, at 2 p.m., at the Council Chambers, Chapel Street, Masterton.
