WEDDINGS
ALEXANDER—TUTBURY. In St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wellington, recently, the wedding took place quietly of Zena Ray, elder daughter of Mrs M. Tutbury and the late Mr H. Tutbury, Featherston, and Frank Noble, second son of Mr and Mrs James MacFarland Alexander. Wairoa.
The bride, who was escorted by Mr H. Lawson, wore a charming frock of honey gold angora, with brown hat and accessories and musquash coat. She wore a spray of orchids. Miss Jean Sutherland Tutbury, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, wearing a blue angora frock with blue accessories and cyclamen spray. Mr Newton Alexander, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man. A reception was held at the Grand Hotel, Mrs Tutbury wearing a navy blue and gold ensemble with hat to match. Mrs Alexander was in a wine frock and hat with furs. Mr and Mrs Alexander's home will be in Wellington.
TILDESLEY—JONEo. On Saturday evening at the Methodist Church. Carterton, the Rev Dalgleish officiating, a very pretty wedding was solemnised, when Valerie Nina Margaret, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. H. Jones, of Greymouth, and formerly of Wanganui, was married to Gorden Lewis, youngest son of Mr and Mrs E. Tildesley, Carterton. Escorted oy her father, the bride made a charming picture. She wore a pretty gown of ivory satin, finished at the back with a long row of tiny satin buttons. The flared skirt was made on slim fitting lines, and fell gracefully into a long train at the back. The beautifully embroidered tulle veil was lent by her great aunt, Mrs C. B. Duncan. cf Wanganui. The bride carried a sheaf of madonna lilies, freesias and maidenhair fern.
Attending the bride, were Miss Myra Sorensen (chief), and Miss Ailsa Jones, sister of the bride. Both wore frocks of apple green georgette over taffeta, finished at the back with .large Dolly Varden green tulle bows, giving the new bustle effect. Matching halos of silver leaves and green pleated tulle were also worn. They carried trailing bouquets of golden spring flowers. The bridegroom’s gift to each bridesmaid was a string of Richleau pearls.
Mr T. Brown and Mr N. McPhee carried out the duties of best man land groomsman, respectively. During the signing of the register, Miss Ailsa Jones sang the solo, “Because.”
On leaving the church the bride was presented with a white satin horse shoe, by the bridegroom’s nephew, Alan Tildesley.
A reception was held at the Premier Tea Rooms where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a tan ensemble, fur stole and brown accessories. She carried a posy of autumn shades. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother, who was attired in a two-piece clover suit, fox fur, and navy .accessories. She also carried a posy to tone. The usual toasts were honoured, and later Mr and Mrs Tfldesly left for the south, amid showers of confetti and the good wishes of their many friends. The bride travelled .in a navy blue frock relieved with gold trimming, and coat and hat to match. Their future home will in Carterton.
