LEOPOLD WARNED

OF IMPENDING INVASION. GRAVE CHARGES MADE. Four grave charges are made against King Leopold, says a correspondent of the "Daily Express." Firstly, that he was warned by the Italian Royal Family—Leopold's sister. Princess Marie Jose, is the wife of the Italian Crown Prince Humbert —at least a week before the invasion that Hitler was on the point of attacking Belgium. Holland and France, but he did not attempt to summon Allied aid. Rumours of this warning circulated in Brussels three days before Hitler marched.

Secondly, that Leopold's hesitant policy led to disasters such as the failure to blow up the Meuse bridges, allowing the Germans to force the bulge in France and eventually to cut the Allied armies.

Thirdly, that he has been unfriendly to France since the beginning of th--war. When M. Daladier went to Belgium immediately after tile invasion. Leopold insisted that he must have full control of the Belgian army. He finally agreed to accept the Allied command, but it is now obvious that he did so with mental reservations.

Fourthly, that Leopold bowed to strong pressure from Mustsolini, with whom lie is reported to have exchanged several messages on May 27.
