SYDNEY, This Day.

A former State Premier. Mr B. S. B. Stevens, has announced that he has resigned his seat in the Legislative Assembly in order to contest a Federal seal in the forthcoming election.

The "Herald's” Canberra correspondent says the Federal election is almost certain to be held on September 14. but adds that urgent developments abroad may cause its postponement, but not its abandonment.
