WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

KOPUARANGA MEETING. WINNERS OF MONTHLY' COMPETITIONS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was h.el/i in the local hall when the president. Mrs C. P. Jarrett, presided over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs C. C. Jackson and Miss N. Rossiter. It was decided to send the “shilling per member" pool money to the War Purposes Fund.

The librarian reported that three new books had been added to the library.

The roll call “A Garden Hint,” was answered by all present.

A successful "Bring and Buy" was held during the afternoon.

Several garments were finished and handed in for refugees. The results of the monthly competitions were as follow: —Child's garment: Mrs W. J. Cottle, 1: Miss M. Wright. 2; Mrs Wright. 3. Dish of sweets: Mrs Reside, 1: Miss D. Kenny, 2: Miss M. Wright, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Cottle, 1: Mrs Wright, 2; Miss N. Rossiter, 3. Next month the cooking competition will be "the best collection of biscuits macle from one recipe." The recipe to be used is as folows: .’,lb. eacn butter and sugar. 1 egg. lib. Hour, 1 teaspoon baking powder. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Reside and O'Connor.

The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
