CARTERTON
RACING CLUB MEETING OF STEWARDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Carterton Racing Chib held last evening was presided over by Mr W. Howard Booth. There were also present Messrs J. C. Harp, P. Bain, R. G. Kemble, J. Johnston, V. L. Robinson, G. A. Vincent and the secretary, Mr J. B. Bairstow. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs E. J. Matson, W. C. Deller, F. C. L. H. Smart, P. A. Cole, Geo and A. O. Abbott.
The treasurer reported a dr balance at the bank of £772 18s. Accounts amounting to £66 2s 9d were passed for payment. The secretary presented an interim balance sheet for the past year, which was approved by the meeting and will be circulated to members prior to the annual meeting, ,which will be held in the P. and A. Society’s rooms on Saturday, August 24, at 10.30 a.m. Mr Mcßeth, secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference, advised that no extra day’s racing was available for the Carterton Club. A vote of sympathy was extended to Mr E. J. Matson, who is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Matson wishing him a speedy recovery to health. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr Alfred Daysh, a life member of the club and a steward for several years. The secretary was instructed to convey the club’s sympathy to the relatives in their bereavement.
