GOLD MINING

COMPANY REPORTS. Grey River Dredging Co., Ltd., reports a return for the week ended August 7 of 131 oz from 100,706 cubic yards in 132 hours. Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Co.. Ltd., reports that owing to the fact that the wooden pontoon cannot stand up to future dredging operations, coupled with the fact that the area of profitable ground is too limited to warrant buiding a new pontoon, it has been decided to close the dredge down permanently. All machinery, plant and equipment now on the dredge will be dismanted and removed ashore for resale or for re-erection on a new claim if a suitable area can be secured.

Big River Gold Mines, Ltd., reports for the month of July as follows: —No. 5 winze stope: 45 tons of stone produced from this stope. No. 7 level was advanced 40 feet for the month. Prospecting was continued in Nos 1, 4 and 6 levels. A total distance of 65 feet was driven and nothing of any value was met with.
