A HEAVY LOSER
RESULT OF HITLER GRAB. Film stars are beginning to wonder if it pays to be frugal. Greta Garbo whose thriftiness has become a byword in Hollywood, has been hard hit by the Hiller grab in Scandinavia. Greta Garbo, much to the disgust of the Californian natives, kept that famous long stocking of hers in Sweden. Most of her savings wore invested in buildings and Swedish bonds, which have depreciated about 4 per cent as a result of the war situation.
Sonja Henie, another careful spender (she has even been accused of meanness) is wondering what has happened to the fortune she had put by in Norway. She has property and investments in German-occupied Oslo. Fortunately. she sold her home there shortly before the invasion.
