LADIES’ AUXILIARY.

MEETING IN MASTERTON.

The ladies of the local Y.M.CIA. Auxiliary met yesterday afternoon there being a good attendance presided over by Mrs H. E. Pither.Mrs H. Henderson was elected a member and welcomed. A welcome was also extended to the new general secretary, Mr C. W. Gaze.

Mrs Pither read to the meeting a letter from the late general secretary, Mr D. McKee Wright, who was recently transferred to the Air Force Y.M.C.A. at Rongotai, Wellington, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the assistance given him by the Ladies’ Auxiliary during his term of office in Masterton. A considerable amount of business was transacted and the entertaining of soldiers visiting the town ,and in the camps was discussed. It was the wish of those present that men of the fighting forces should feel free to make full use of the facilities offering at the Y.M.C.A. rooms in Church Street. Interesting reports of Y.M.C.A. secretaries’ work with the Second Echelon overseas and in the Auckland camps were read.

Accounts to the amount of £1 13s 4d were passed for payment. The sum of £5 was donated to the general appeal fund .

Afternoon tea was served, Mesdames E. G. Coddington and F. Pike being hostesses.
