MAURICEVILLE
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY ENTERTAINMENT OF SOLDIERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the executive committee of the Mauriceville District Patriotic Society was held in the Public Hall on Monday night. Mr E. W. Cheetham presided. There was a full attendance of members from Hastwells, Ihuraua, Mauriceville West and Mauriceville. An apology for absence was received from Mr Dunn. The business of the meeting was to arrange for a social in honour of local members of the Third Echelon, and it was decided to hold a social and dance in the Mauriceville Hall when the guests of the evening will be Privates R. Trass, K. Henshaw, N. McDonald and L. Turley. RED CROSS SOCIETY SUB-CENTRE MEETING. A meeting of the Mauriceville subcentre of the Red Cross was held on Monday evening, there being a fair attendance of members. It was decided to ask all members and the ladies of the district who are interested to attend the sewing bee which will be held in the Council Hall. The committee is in need of white material suitable for Red Cross purposes.
