ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. At the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club held last evening, Mr A. G. Wiltshire presided over a very satisfactory attendance of members. Mr W. H. King, vice-president of the New Zealand Esperanto Association, presented the official bulletin of the association, the parent body of Dominion esperantists and clubs. Founded in Wellington, the association, he said, has a membership of over 500 esperantists, about 12 clubs and societies. The main activities of the N.Z.E.A. comprise the arranging of congresses (10 have already been held), general representations on behalf of Esperanto to the Government, State departments, etc., and the fostering of the language in New Zealand. Mr King also drew attention to the film "The Road to Singapore, now being exhibited in the Dominion and which contains a number of songs in Esperanto. Two classes continued the study ol Esperanto during one hour, following which Mr E. J. Esler presented an interesting article in Esperanto entitled “La Espero de la Mondo" (The Hope ol the World). In this he pointed out jh: advantages which would accrue to Lie world if the human family were io speak the international language. ~ Impromptu talks occupied the final fifteen minutes of the meeting, during which each member spoke briefly on a common subject.
