The total Rate Levy for the current year is £27,742/2/11, and of this sum £4806/15/5. or slightly more than 17 per cent, had been collected at the close of business yesterday. This represents approximately the same percentage of collection at the corresponding date last year. It is anticipated that the rate collections during the next few days up to August 8 will be fairly heavy, since there is usually a last-minute rush to take advantage of the discount offered by the Council for prompt payment.
