STRAWBERRY SHORT=CAKE

SUNDAY SUPPER DISH. Sift together 2 level cups flour, 4 level teaspoons baking powder, i level teaspoon salt, add 1 tablespoon castor sugar, rub in one-third cup butter with fingertips, then gradually add 1 egg. well beaten, mixed together with onethird cup milk. Toss mixture on to floured board and divide into two parts. Pat out to fit the size of a sandwich tin, brush over with melted butter, then place the other half on top. Bake in hot oven for about 15 minutes. When cooked, split with knife. Fill with strawberries, crushed a little, add sugar to taste and whipped cream. Place on the other half. Decorate with whipped cream and a few whole strawberries.
