AGA KHAN’S HEIR
JOINING BRITISH FORCES $ CALL TO FELLOW MOSLEMS. DEFENCE OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) JERUSALEM, August 3. Aly Khan, eldest son and heir apparent of the Aga Khan, is en route to Cairo to join the British forces, having relinquished his commission in the Syrian Colonial Army. In a speech here warning his fellow Moslems against the dangers of the situation to the Moslem world, he said religious freedom had received what appears to be its death sentence in countries under totalitarian influence, whereas such freedom exists untrammelled in all Mohammedan countries under British influence. “Some people in Eastern countries,” he said, “do not appreciate the freedom they enjoy under British armed protection without which they would become an easy prey for the aggressive militarised Powers who today seek to dominate mankind.” Aly Khan expressed confidence in the British war effort and referred to Turkey’s exalted position under brilliant leadership.
