HARRIER ACTIVITIES
KIATERE CLUB. A TRAINING RUN. Under ideal conditions the members of the Kiatere Harrier Club participated in a training run on Saturday. The senior runners went over a fairly heavy 7-mile course and good form was shown by J. L. Burns, A. MacDonald, B. Nelson, R. Searanckc and W. Burns. The latter will be very hard to beat in the 6.|-mile club championship to be held next Saturday and the closest opposition will most likely come from W. Burgess (the holder). W. MacDonald and R. Greeks. The junior runners also ran over one lap of the senior course with N. Jacobsen, displaying solid form to win from F. Sexton and I. Summers. At the moment it looks as if Jacobsen will be the winner of the 3 1-8 mile club championship to be run next week, but a sealed handicap to be held in conjunction with this race will ensure a keen contest. The points from the sealed handicap will count in the W. MacDonald Points Prize. Next Saturday's races will be held at the Solway Showgrounds, starting at 2.30 p.m. MASTERTON CLUB. FRIENDLY RUN. The last of the friendly runs of the season was held on Saturday by members of the Masterton Harrier Club over Hie golf links trail. Messrs McMannus and Nab. of the Wellington Club, ran with the local members. McMannus won the Wellington provincial junior title recently at Silverstream. Next Saturday the club members will be the guests of Mr .and Mrs G. Ready when the annual race for the Willis Cup will be contested. The handicaps will be announced later in the week.
