CHURCH SERVICES

The services at the Salvation Army tomorrow Will be conducted by Brigadier Florence Birks and Brigadier Smith, assisted by the staff and cadets of the Salvation Army Training College. Wellington. The special series of services will commence tonight, at 8 o’clock, by the Cadets, who will be supported by Mr Steve Mason on the xylophone, and Miss Lora Dutton, L.T.C.L.: pianist. On Sunday morning Brigadier Smith will be the speaker, and she will take for her subject, “The Surrendered Life” Brigadier Florence Birks, the Training College principal, will give a most interesting lecture entitled “Social Silhouettes” in the afternoon. Mrs G. G. Tolhurst will preside. Brigadier Florence Birks will be the speaker at night, when she will give a special address entitled "A Drama in Two Acts.” The Brigadier is a fluent speaker. The Cadets will take part in the services during the day. Tomorrow being the 26th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War, will be marked by appropriate services at St. Matthew’s Church. Archdeacon Rich will be the preacher both morning and evening, and at Taueru in the afternoon. The Rev. T. V. Pearson will conduct the evening service at Kuripuni. The services at Knox. Te Whiti and Westmere tomorrow will be conducted by the Rev. John Davie, and that at Matahiwi by the Bible Class Group. Al all of these services special prayers will be offered for the Empire. Scholars and teachers from Solway College will attend the Lansdowne Church services at 11 a.m. tomorrow, when the Rev. D. McNeur will preach. Services will also be held at Lansdowne at 7 p.m., and at Rangitumau and Kopuaranga. A hearty welcome is extended to all interested to the service to be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Y.M.C.A. when the preacher for the Masterton Baptist Fellowship will be Rev W. Lambert, of Wellington. Mr Lambert, now on the retired list, is a well-known minister in Wellington and for a number of years past, has been associated with the Baptist denomination of the Dominion. At the Methodist Church tomorrow the day will be observed as "Home Mission Day." The morning service will be conducted by the Rev H. S. King who will speak on "Heralds or Traitors.” The evening service will be one of special interest and will be conducted by Sister Rita Snowden. Miss Snowden is a well known New Zealand writer. Her books. "Through Open Windows," "If I Open My Door.' "When We Two Walked" and "With Two Hands" have attracted a wide circle of readers. She is well-knowr. throughout the Dominion as a lecturer and her knowledge of European arid Maori life is very extensive. She is a fluent speaker. On this occasion the Kuripuni Methodist Church will combine with Masterion Church in holding the service. The services at the Church of Chris'. on Sunday will be conducted by Mr W. J. Lowe.
