s> ON ENEMY AERODROMES OIL PLANTS BOMBED AT NIGHT. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.33 a.m.) RUGBY, August 2. An Air Ministry communique states that R.A.F. bombers yesterday made daylight attacks on the aerodromes of Leeuwarden and Haamstede, in Holland. A hangar was hit and enemy aircraft machine-gunned on the ground. One of our aircraft is missing. Bombers during the night attacked synthetic oil plants at Gelsenkirchen, Kamen, Homburg and Reisholz, near Dusseldorf, the Krupp Works at Essen, supply depots at Hamm, Krefeld and Mannheim and other targets. The damage is believed to be considerable. All of our aircraft returned safely. It is now known that another enemy seaplane was destroyel in combat with a British bomber on Wednesday. FRENCHMEN TAKE PART. GENERAL DE GAULLE’S REPORT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.23 a.m.) RUGBY. August 2. The foilowing communique was issued today from the headquarters of General De Gaulle, commanding the Army of All Free Frenchmen: “Our airmen took part in the operations carried out last night by the R.AF. over North-West Germany, their chief objective being the important oil production plant at Kamen. Ground defences put up a heavy barrage, but in spite of this our men pressed home their attacks, with highly satisfactory results. All our airmen returned safely.” This is General De Gaulle’s third official communique.
