LOCAL BODY LOANS APPROVED. MASTERTON COUNTY'’ COUNCIL’S POSITION. In this Aveek’s “Gazette” an Order-in-Council appears consenting to the raising of a loan of £lO,OOO by the Masterton County Council, one of £5OOO by the Eketahuna County Council and one of £750 by the Eketahuna Borough Council. The loans are to enable the local authorities mentioned to make advances to farmers under the Rural Housing Act, 1939. “We have received quite a number of inquiries and have several applications,” observed Mr J. C. D. Mackley, Clerk of the Masterton County Council this morning, referring to the assistance available to farmers under the Rural Housing Act. “The council." he added, “is now in a position to advance money to those ratepayers of the county who are prepared to take advantage of the facilities made available by the Government for rural housing.” Money is available for the erection of new dwellings, for additions to existing buildings or for the adaptation of present buildings for dwellings for farmers or farm Avorkers.
