FEILDING SALE KEEN DEMAND FOR SHEEP. BEEF PRICES ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 2. The market for sheen was exceptionally active at the Feilding sale today, the keen demand throughout taking values to above last week’s levels. Eeef also made sharp advance in price. Fat sheep: A rise of from 2s to 3s a head was shown in the mutton pens, where some splendidly-finished lines were offered. Extra prime wethers made 3Gs lOd to'3Bs lOd, prime 32s Id to 35s 4d. good average sorts 30s to 31s 9d, lighter 24s to 29s 4d; extra prime hoggets 28s Id to 30s 4d, very good 25s 4d to 275, others 20s to 24s 6d; extra prime ewes, 30s to 32s Id. second grade 26s 6d to 29s 4d. lighter 20s lOd to 25s 7s; prime lambs 24s 4d to 25s 4d, others 19s 4d to 22s lOd. Store sheep: The strong demand for all classes of store sheep continued today. a further rise in values taking place. Very good ewe hoggets made 28s 6d to 30s 6d, second quality 275; best wether hoggets 21s 9d to 235, wellgrown 19s lOd to 21s 4d; good m.a. ewes 33s to 34s 6d; small two. four and sixtooth ewes 26s 9d to 275; good twotooth ewes 38s to 395; best four and five-year ewes 32s lOd, others 29s Id; four-year ewes 325, good, soundmouthed lines 28s fid. others 23s Id to 25s fid. Store cattle: The cattle offered in this section did not sell as freely as the store sheep, nevertheless a good clearance was made at firm .prices. Good weaner Jersey heifers made £4 8s to £4 17s, others £3 7s 6d to £3 19s; yearling A.A. steers, good £5 ss, small £3 14s; A.A. cows £5 3s to £5 Ils; small A.A. yearling heifers £2 13s; works cows, heavy £5 2s 6d, others £3 to £3 15s. ; Dairy cattle: The prices for good springing heifers and cows held firm at late rates, with the large offering being totally cleared at auction. Best springing heifers made £lO 10s to £l3 10s, second quality £8 10s to £lO, others from £6; good springing cows £lO to £l2 17s 6d, second grade £8 to £9 15s, later cal vers from £5 10s. Fat cattle: Some splendid heifer and ox beef made more than £2 a 1001 b, competition by bucthers being particularly keen. Prime A.A. steers made £l5 12s 6d to £l6 17s 6d. second grade £l3 7s 6d to £l4 12s 6d, light £lO 2s 6d to £l2 7s 6d; extra prime A.A. heifers £l2 4s 6d to £l2 17s 6d, prime £lO 2s 6d to £lO 17s 6d, others £6 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d; medium prime cows £7 7s 6d to £8 7s 6d, light £5 7s 6d to £6 15s; prime cows and heifers £lO 2s 6d to £lO 17s 6d, Pigs: High values were paid for pigs, of which there was an improved entry. Good weaners made 20s to 275. slips 28s Gd to 29s Gd, porkers £2 15s, boprs £3. CARTERTON SALE. QUALITY LINES IN DEMAND. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report as follows: —A good yarding of sheep, cattle, and pigs came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday and was offered to a fair attendance. Fat sheep, pigs and dairy cattle showing quality were keenly sought after but late calvers were slightly easier. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Prime wethers, 36s to 38s; light fat wethers, to 30s; fat S.D. ewes, to 255; prime fat hoggets, 27s 3d, 28s. 29s 3d to 31s 3d; prime fat ewes, 26s io 28s; fat ewes, 23s 6d to 24s 6d; light fat ewes, 19s to 21s; fat and forward wether hoggets, to 22s Id; store ewes, to 14s Gd. Cattle: 3-yr. Jersey heifers on drop. £l2 to £l2 10s; 2-yr. Jersey heifers, springing, £7 to £8 ss; springing cows, £6 to £10; fat steers, to £10; fat cows, £5 to £6 10s; forward cows, £3 10s to £4 15s; store cows, £2 to £2 16s. Pigs: Weaners (good), 25s to 265; weaners (medium), 23s 6d to 24s 6d; weaners (small), 20s to 235; slips, 27s to 30s; store pigs, 32s to 375; light porkers, to £2 4s; porkers, £2 7s to £2 19s; sows to farrow, £3 to £6.
