MILK DELIVERIES
BIG SAVING IN PETROL BY ZONING. MASTERTON SCHEME WORKING WELL. Some idea of the amount of petrol that can be saved by the zoning of deliveries may be gauged from the fact that it is estimated that in Masterton alone 300 gallons of petrol per month is being saved as the result of the zoning of milk deliveries. It may be seen that the saving on a yearly basis, and spread over the whole Dominion, will amount to a considerable quantity of fuel. Zoning was brought into operation in Masterton yesterday and as a general result, householders are now being served with milk much earlier than was formerly the case. Although the vendors have yet to settle down to the new system, it appears to be working quite well, according to the views of milkmen approached this morning. The public, too, seem to be quite receptive to the scheme. .
