WAR ON U-BOATS
FIRST LORD REFUSES INFORMATION. DETAIL FACTS WOULD ASSIST ENEMY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, July 31. The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr A. V. Alexander), answering a questioner in the House of Commons, said: “I cannot agree to give information about Italian and German submarines which have been captured, sunk or damaged. Silence prevents the enemy from discovering how events occur and also from gauging the efficiency of our methods.”
