PARLIAMENT ADJOURNS WILL MEET EARLIER SHOULD NEED ARISE. RURAL HOUSING BILL PASSED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. After sitting for two months the House of Representatives adjourned for three weeks at the conclusion of last night's business. All the afternoon and part of the evening were occupied with discussion on the Rural Housing Amendment Bill, which was put through all stages and passed. There was general approval of the Bill. The Insurance Companies Bill, which provides for the compulsory winding-up of insurance companies of doubtful solvency, was read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Supplementay Estimates, which provided for a total vote of £1,388,312, were presented during the afternoon. Discussion on them took place after the supper adjournment at night, and when they had been approved the Appropriation Bill, which gives legislative effect to all classes of estimates, was introduced and . put through all stages and passed. Several more departmental reports were presented at the start of the sitting, including that of the Controller and Auditor-General, who submits his report to Parliament through the Speaker. The House rose at eight minutes past midnight till Wednesday, August 21, with a proviso that members could be be called together sooner if that were necessary.
