About 1000 pigs are consumed by the people of New Zealand every day, Mr C. H. M. Sorensen, supervisor tor the Taranaki Pig Council, told the New Plymouth Rotary Club. This made a big inroad into the total production in the country, but he felt that by present improvements in the care and accommodation the quantities needed by Great Britain could be supplied. Mr Sorensen emphasised the great importance of the quality of the product. "It is the quality of the product today that is going to determine our market for tomorrow,’ he said. “We hear a great deal of talk about glut on the market, but there is no glut when your article is on top, and that is what New Zealand must always aim at.”
