INSPECTOR OF LABOUR
TRANSFER TO INVERCARGILL. POPULAR OFFICER FAREWELLED. Mr E. G. Sherrock, who has been Inspector of Awards, Labour Department, Masterton, has received notice of his transfer to Invercargill. During his stay of some two years in Masterton, Mr Sherrock made a wide circle of friends and was well known as a courteous, efficient and tactful officer. Mr N. Pelvin, who succeeds Mr Sherrock has arrived in Masterton, and has taken up his duties. There wsa a full muster of members of the Winter Sports Table Tennis Club on a recent'club night to farewell Mr Sherrock, who was a popular member of the club. During the evening, Mr J. Haywood, president of the club, made the presentation of a book to the guest of the evening, on behalf of the club. In making the presentation Mr Haywood referred to the valuable assistance given by Mr Sherrock as a member of the club, and of the management committee. Mr Sherrock returned thanks.
The office staff of the Labour Department, and Mr W. G. Milne, of the Transport Department assembled to farewell Mr Sherrock this morning, and to make the presentation of a silver cigarette case. Appreciative reference was made to Mr Sherrock’s capabilities and while expressing regret at losing an efficient officer, pleasure was expressed at his promotion. Mr and Mrs Sherrock and their daughter will leave Masterton for their new home tomorrow.
