ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. There was a good attendance of members at the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club, hold last evening and presided over by Mr A. G. Wiltshire. During the consideration of formal business, it was decided to open a Post Office Savings Bank account in the name of the club, the treasurer to be the operating trustee. Following the usual weekly tuition period, the club vice-president. Mrs J. McNab, presented an original article in Esperanto entitled "Mia Libertempo," which was well received. The secretary. Mr W. H. King, displayed two very interesting books published in Esperanto: "The Complete Dictionary of Esperanto" and the Holy Bible. The former is a standard work which furnishes in the international language the definition of Esperanti roots thus enabling Esperantists of all countries to obtain the same understanding of the various roots comprising the language. The Old and Now Testaments'in Esperanto represent the second occasion on which the Bible has been published m an international language, the first being the appearance of the Scriptures in Latin. The concluding item, a brief description of a recent trip to Napier, was contributed by Mr W. J. Beresford who answered a number of questions plied in Esperanto.
