USE IN THE EVACUATION OF CHILDREN FROM EUROPEAN WAR ZONE. SAFE CONDUCT ASSURANCES SOUGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 26. The House'of Representatives Foreign Committee unanimously approved a bill to authorise American ships to evacuate refugee children from the European war zone. President’Roosevelt stated that the United States may ask the belligerents for safe conduct assurances if American ships got Britain to evacuate children. The Maritime Commission announced that it had approved a charter to Russia for a Standard Oil Company’s tanker to transport petrol to Vladivostok.
