HAVOC IN GERMANY
CAUSED BY R.A.F. BOMBERS SWEDISH SAILOR’S TESTIMONY NAZI DENIALS SCOUTED. PARTICULARS OF TERRIBLE DAMAGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, July 26. Evidence of the terrific havoc being caused by R.A.F. raids on Germany has been given by a Swedish sailor on his arrival home from a German Baltic harbour. Interviewed by his home newspaper he stated that air-raid alarms had been continuous during the past three weeks. He described the bombing as fearful. The Germans were lying, he said, when they declared that the British bombing had caused little damage. Testifying to the havoc wrought, the sailor described a raid on one Baltic port as so swift that there was no time to sound an alarm. Bombers dived to attack an aircraft factory. Screams were heard as an anti-aircraft gun crew was swept away by an explosion. A quarter of an hour later more bombers dived to the attack, and shortly after the factory was in flames. This attack lasted for an hour and a half. The next day a large part of the factory was in ruins. The sailor also stated that British planes dropped mines in German Baltic. harbours.
Another report states that in Western Germany the populace has spent nearly every night for weeks in air raid shelters. They are now demanding that the attack on England should start.
