Counted Out For Winter Cup.

Hagen can be counted out for the Winter Cup, ns he lias been blistered by his New Plymouth trainer, H. Dulieu. and turned out. The seat of Hagen's trouble is in a pastern. Hagen is a four-year-old bay horse by Siegfried from I-lathor. and a grand galloper. He had been troubled throughout his short career by unsoundness, and it may be just, a case of patching him up from time to time. So far this season, Hagen has had five starts for four wins and a third. Not Out. Not Out, one of the best three-year-olds trained at Riccarton this season, did particularly well during a spell that came to an end recently. At his last start, when not at his best duo to an interruption in his preparation. Not Cut finished fourth in the Great Easter Handicap at Riccarton in March. From his six successes and three minor placings in twelve starts. Not Cut won £lOBO. The only thing likely to keep Not Out from winning his share of the principal handicaps up to a mile next season is unsoundness. lie is a chestnut gelding by Winning Hit from Dutch Money, and is trained by F. Roberts for his breeder Mr George Gould, the treasurer and an honorary life member of the Canterbury Jockey Club.
