RAIDS ON LIBYA
GOOD WORK BY BRITISH MACHINES FIVE ITALIAN PLANES SHOT DOWN. RECONNAISSANCE FROM KENYA. (By Telegraph—Press .Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) CAIRO, July 25. An official communique states that a patrol of five Gladiators, escorting Blenheim bombers, engaged and shot down five of seven enemy fighters into the sea off Libya. The. Blenheims raided Derna and dropped bombs in the middle of fifty enemy fighters and bombers on the ground. There were no British losses. It is now revealed that a Gladiator reported missing on July 24 made a forced landing on the British side of the frontier. A Nairobi communique states: “Our planes yesterday . reconnoitred the El Wak area, bombed a small concentration of troops and destroyed one motor vehicle.” ALEXANDRIA BOMBED ONE KILLED AND SEVEN WOUNDED. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) CAIRO, July 25. A Naval communique states that one person was killed and seven wounded in an Italian raid on Alexandria this morning. A few bombs were dropped indiscriminately. Slight damage was done.
