NEW FACTORIES
PRODUCTION OF PLANES IN U.S.A. BRITAIN TO MEET COSTS. STATEMENT BY AMERICAN MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 25. The British purchasing agent has asked defence officials to grant permission to Britain to order 3000 planes a month, the deliveries to begin on January 1 next. The officials promised to determine whether this would interfere with defence requirements. EYERY FACILITY PLEDGED BY UNITED STATES. (Received This Day, 9.0 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 25. The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Henry Morgenthau, stated that the United States had pledged every facility to enable the British to buy 3,000 planes monthly, in addition t'o huge orders already placed. Daventry reports Mr H. Morgenthau (U.S. Secretary to the Treasury) as stating that the new arrangement would require the construction of additional factories and that Britain had promised to pay for their erection and to buy their output.
