FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL. RATE NOTICE. NTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is the intention of the Council, at a meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, Martinborough, on MONDAY, the 29th day of July. 1940, under the provisions of Section 120 of the Counties Act, 1920, and amendments thereto, to make and, levy: A GENERAL RATE of Two Pence (2d) in the £ sterling on the unimproved value of all rateable properties appearing in the Valuation Rolls of the nine respective Ridings of the County. ALSO under the provisions of Section 52 of “The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926,” to make and levy A HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE RATE of Nine-sixteenths pence (9/16d) in the £ sterling on the unimproved value of all rateable properties appearing in the Valuation Rolls of the nine respective Ridings of the County. ALSO pursuant to a Special Order under Sections 60 and 101 of the “River Boards Act, 1908,” made on the sth day of May, 1937, by the Waiohine River Board, to make and levy A GENERAL RATE of One Farthing (Jd) in the £ sterling on the Capital Value of all lands within the Waiohine River Board Separate Rating District. AND ALSO under the provisions of “The Water Supply Act, 1908,” and amendments thereto, to make and levy SEPARATE RATES for the Maintenance of Water Races within the respective Water Race Districts as follows: — A SEPARATE RATE of One and Three-Eighths Pence (Igd) in the £ sterling on the unimproved value of all rateable properties within the Fea-therston-Longwood Water Race Separate Rating District, including the Tauherenikau Subdivision thereof. A SEPARATE RATE ‘of Two Pence Half Penny (2Jd) in the £ sterling on the unimproved value of all properties within the Dry River Water Race Separate Rating District. A SEPARATE RATE of Threeeighths of a Penny (gd) in the £ sterling on the unimproved value of all rateable properties within the Moroa Water Race Separate Rating District. ALSO under the provisions of “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” to collect the annual recurring Interest and Sinking Fund Charges within the several Special Rating Districts of the County. SUCH RATES to be for the period commencing on the first day of April. 1940, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1941, and to be due and payable in one sum on the 12th day of August, 1940, at the Office of the Council. j THE VALUATION ROLLS are now open for inspection during Office hours. PURSUANT to Section 64 of the "Rating Amendment Act; 1925,” a discount of 5 per centum will be allowed off the GENERAL AND HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATES if the demand is paid in full within 30 days of the date thereon. Contract No. 134.—Getting and delivering 445 cubic yards (more or less) of metal on the various roads in the Featherston Riding. Contract No. 135.—Getting and delivering 1144 cubic yards (more or less) of metal on the various roads in the Western Lake Riding. Contract No. 136. —Getting and delivering 649 cubic yards (more or less) of metal on the various roads in the Kahautara Riding. Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
