BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. NO CHANGE IN COMPETITIONS. The forty-second annual meeting of the Masterton Bowling Club was held in the club pavilion last night. The president, Mr S. V. Gooding, presided over a good attendance of members. On the motion of the president, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. In speaking to the report, Mr Gooding stated that he was pleased with the financial position of the club, and made reference to the excellent services of Mr J. F. Roberts, hon. treasurer. The president presented trophies won during the past season. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr F. H. Dtmderdale; president, Mr H. H. Daniell; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Hayne and J. V. Gordon; executive committee, Messrs F. Mills. W, Reid. L. T. Wylie, A. Stubbings, W. Hendry; selector, Mi- D. F. Thurston; hon. auditor, Mr A. O. Jones; hon. treasurer, Mr J. F. Roberts; hon. secretary. Mr W. E. Vowell; match committee, Messrs W. Hendry, W. McCullough, W. Lewis; delegates to the Wairarapa Bowling Centre, Messrs G. Hayne, J, F. Roberts and A. Stubbings; board stewards, Messrs W. Davies, A. Stubbings and W. Reid. Mr Edward Richards, an old and respected member of the club, and a foundation member, having joined up in 1899 was unanimously elected an honorary life member of the club. Feeling reference was made to the deaths of Messrs D. Guild, D. H. Speedy and C. Volheim. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Eulogistic reference was made by members to the excellent services rendered to the club by the retiring president, Mr Gooding. In thanking members for their kind expressions, Mr Gooding referred to the help and assistance he had received from members of the committee. Votes of thanks were accorded to the green superintendent, Mr G. Beecroft; to Mr H. M. Morton for his services as delegate to the Wairarapa Bowling Centre for many years, and to the retiring officers. Several new members were elected. It was decided that club competitions be the same as last season.
