WELFARE LEAGUE

VISIT TO BUCHANAN HOME. A visit was paid to the Buchanan Home by members of the Women’s National Welfare League yesterday. The visitors, thirteen in number, set out in drizzling rain, laden with a great variety of parcels. The welcome they received and the bright faces of the inmates made the visit a most enjoyable one. Impromptu singing and dancing was indulged in. ( The inmates appreciated the cakes, etc., and one of their number made a very neat speech of thanks. Three cheers were given for the entertainers. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought the proceedings to a close. The Matron and nurses entertained the visitors at afternoon tea. when compliments were exchanged by Miss Higginson and Miss Kummer and heartily endorsed by all present. Special thanks are due to those who kindly provided cars. It is hoped to pay another visit to the Home during September.
