MARTINBOROUGH

PLUNKET SOCIETY MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO BE ERECTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the local branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Society’s Room yesterday. There were present: Mesdames A. W. Blundell (president). Griffiths, Mason, Sievers. Hewitt, Tyler, Kershaw, Campbell, W. H. Martin, A. Warren, W. B. Martin, and A. D. McLeod. A letter was received from headquarters at Dunedin requesting branches to forward to the executive at Dunedin an expression of opinion as to whether the Biennial Conference should be held this year or not in view of the war. It was resolved that if in the opinion of the executive it was decided advisable to abandon the conference for this year, the Martinborough branch would support such a decision. Mr Arthur was appointed acting treasurer. The Advisory Boards of Martinborough and Featherston reported that it had been decided that the old car used for Plunket work was inadequate and that a new one had been purchased. It was unanimously resolved that a plaque be erected in the Plunket Room in memory of the late president, Mrs W. J. Martin. Handsome Donation to Red Cross. Among the many donations received by the local branch of the Red Cross Society is that of £lO5 from Mr Eric Riddiford. The Lady Galway Relief Committee has acknowledged the receipt of six cases of clothing from Martinborough.
