ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL WAIRARAPA P.G. LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Past Grands' Lodge of Odd Fellows was held last evening, P.G. Bro. W. A. Palmer, presiding over a fair attendance of members. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, P.G. Bro. J. Harris; vice-president. P.G. Sister M. E. Mellish; Warden, P.G. Bro. A> R. Tankersley; treasurer, P.D.G.M. Bro. J. H. Langley; trustee, P.G. Bro. A. R. Tankersley; ritual examiners, P.D.G.M. Bro. C. J. DeLacey and P.G's. Bros. G. S. Bruce and R. Baikie; auditors. P.G’s. Bros. A. P. Smith and G. S. Bruce. Reference, was made to the resignation of P.G. Bro. A. H. Krahagen through illness, as the lodge treasurer, a position he had held continuously for 30 years. It was resolved that the secretary write to Bro. Krahagen thanking him for his long and faithful service as treasurer and regretting his illness; and that appreciation of his work be recorded in the minutes. The newly elected officers were installed by the retiring president ana were accorded lodge honours. During the meeting the newly elected president presented the ritual shield to th N.G. of Heart of Oak Lodge, P.G. Sister Eagle, and congratulated thelodge officers on their success. It was resolved that in the event of there being no competition for the shield, the same be not engraved until such time as the competition is revived. The next quarterly meeting,will be held at Greytown in October. METHODIST CHURCH SILVER TREE EFFORT. Once a year money is raised for the Carterton Methodist Circuit Funds by means of a Silver Tree effort. This year an additional function, which realised nearly £4, was held on Tuesday afternoon in the Dalefield Methodist Church for the residents in that part of the circuit. A much appreciated programme was given by Mesdames Worsfold, Nightingale and Daglish. The Rev. J. A. Daglish, who presided, also contributed solos and a reading. In the evening: there was a large attendance and a further £2O was obtained. So far £24 10s has been received and there are promises of further help. A splendid programme | comprised quartettes by Messrs Dark, Thomas, Leete, and Irwin; pianoforte solos by Mr Dark; elocution items by Miss Lorna Tinsley; duets by Mrs Worsfold and Miss Edna Newbould, and by Mr and Mrs Daglish; vocal solos by Mrs Daglish and Messrs Irwin. Ardrey, Kay and Daglish. Mrs Vaughan was the accompaniste. The serving of supper brought a successful gathering to a close. Clothes Drive. The clothes drive carried out by members of the Carterton Post Office staff assisted by Scoutmaster H. T. Ray and members of the Carterton troop of Boy Scouts, resulted in six large cases being sorted and packed by several ladies of the Women’s Institutes and are now ready to be forwarded to Wellington. The whole drive was under the supervision of the Postmaster, Mr Norman Boyne, who has personally written thanking those who took part in the effort. Besides the clothes collected, £2 16s 3d was received in donations. Late Mr F. Stevens. The funeral of the late Mr Fred Stevens took place at the Clareville Cemetery yesterday afternoon, there being a representative gathering of relatives and friends. -The service at the graveside was conducted by the Vicar of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, the Rev. W. F. Stent. The pall-bearers were Messrs H. J. Bassett. C. J. DeLacey, A. W. Hayden, C. W. Labell, H. O. Bond and W. Sage. Footballers’ Ball. On Monday night next the annual ball of the Carterton Football Club will be held in the King's Theatre, Carterton. Arrangements have been completed and visitors from all over the district are expected to be present at this very' popular event. Tom Udy's. orchestra will supply the music and the supper arrangements will be in the hands of a capable ladies’ committee. The prices of admission are: Double ticket, 7s 6d; men, ss; ladies, 3s. A meeting of poultry keepers throughout the Wairarapa will be held in the Parish Hall, Carterton, on Tuesday night, commencing at 7.30 o’clock, for the purpose of meeting officers of the Marketing Department, who will explain the working of the new egg marketing regulations. The Rev W. F. Stent. Government representative on the New Zealand Poultry Board, will preside. Baby Carnival. The North Island section of the Baby Carnival ended in a win for Auckland. Hamilton was second and Taranaki third. The next will be between the winner o£ the North Island championship and the champion baby of the South Island. Voting will commence shortly and the prizes to be won in this final event will be £5OO (first) and £250 (second). The carnival which has been a successful one, has been conducted by the St. John Ambulance Brigade.
