WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

UPPER PLAIN MEETING. WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS. The monthly meeting of the Upper Plain Women’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs Clements, Mrs W. Taplin (president) presiding over a good attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Aspirations, prayer for peace and the Ode to Friendship. Members decided to bring to the next meeting one garment each for the Red Cress Society. The competitions resulted as follows: Best bloom. Mrs C. R. Jones 1; cooking. Mrs Steer 1, Mrs C. R. Jones 2; novelty not costing more than 2s, Mrs Clements 1, Mrs Scott 2. Following afternoon tea members spent an enjoyable half hour completing hussifs. The singing of.the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
