BASKETBALL BUSH -ASSOCIATION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The results of the games in the Bush Basketball Association's weekly competition at Pahiatua were as follow: — Stars B 21. Hamua 9; Stars A 32. United 24; Konini A 27. Hukanui 14; Tuis 22, Eketahuna 11. The fixtures for next Monday night have been arranged as follows: —Stars A v Hukanui at 6.30 p.m.; Konini A v Hamua at 7.15 p.m.; Konini B v Stars B at 8 p.m.; Tuis v United at 8.45 p.m. CAR WRECKED ACCIDENT AT HAMUA. When one of its tyres burst while passing another car at Hamua at about 5.30 p’m. on Monday, a five-seater sedan car, driven by Mr Owen Victor Scott, of Maharahara, which was pro.ceeding from Masterton to Woodville, and containing as passengers Mr and Mrs D. Campbell (Woodville), Miss Grant (Dannevirke) and Miss T. Peebles (Woodville), swerved and after continuing for some distance along the side of the road struck a power pole, breaking it off and bringing down the wires. The vehicle was practically wrecked and was brought back to Eketahuna. Mr Campbell, who occupied a front seat, was precipitated from the vehicle and sustained severe abrasions to his head, as well as bruises to other parts of his body. He was admitted to the Pahiatua Hospital. Miss Grant and Miss Peebles also received bruises and are suffering from shock. The other occupants escaped unhurt. The car which passed just before the accident continued on its way, the occupants apparently being unaware of the mishap. As a result of the breaking of the pole Eketahuna was without electric power for the best part of an hour. Personal Items. Mr G. Jones, Pahiatua, is staying with his daughter, Mrs John Liverton, Waihoki. Mrs W. Thomasen. Atea. was a recent visitor to Te Horo. Mr and Mrs H. Nordell, Atea, are visiting Wellington. First Aid Instruction.’ The first aid instruction at Nireaha was taken by the district nurse, who gave a demonstration on the making up jof a sick bed and other sick-room necessities. Most members of the Nireaha Junior Red Cross class will sit fortheir examination this week. Table Tennis. The attendances at the Nireaha Table Tennis gatherings have been poor owing chiefly to petrol restrictions.
