The most piquant episodes of filmmaking history concern productions which at the outset gathered only modest credit for their makers, but which subsequently blossomed into “boxoffice” hits. Picture patrons will recall to mind “Sunshine Susie” as falling into this category. “Talking Feet.’ scheauled for exhibition on Friday at the Cosy Theatre, Masterton. writes another chapter in this class. The Masterton Hibernian Society will hold a dance and euchre tournament in St. Patrick’s Hall tonight. The music for the dancing will be supplied by J. Barnes’ Rhythm Boys’ Band. Good prizes and supper will be provided. At the Y.M.C.A. Hall on _ Thursday evening, commencing at 7.30 o clock, and under the auspices of the Masteiton Baptist Fellowship, an address will be given by Miss Gainsford. who was in the service of the N.Z. Baptist Missionary Society in East Bengal for many years. Miss Gainsford has ictned from the field service, and is now actively engaged in the Dominion spending her time among the chinches. Jones (as he treads on a tack): . I wish you wouldn’t be so careless in throwing tacks about, Mary. Mrs Jones (placidly): Henry, you arc getting meaner and meaner every day. I can buy a whole package of tacks for a penny.
