A war communique states: “An Italian aerial formation reached Gibraltar during a flight of 3200 kilometres and satisfactorily bombed the arsenal and military objectives at Gibraltar. "An enemy ship, attempting to cross the Strait of Sicily, was hit by our bombs. It was so gravely damaged that it was abandoned by its crew. "In the eastern Mediterranean an enemy submarine was sunk."
