CARTERTON

CARTERTON RACING CLUB MEETING OF STEWARDS. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr W. Howard Booth presided over a meeting of stewards of the Carterton Racing Club, there being also present: Messrs L. H. Smart. J. C. Harp, W. C. Deller, J Johnson, G. A. Vincent, H. J. Brown, F. C. Yule, R. G. Kemble and the secretary (Mr J. B. Bairstow). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. O. Abbott, C. Jensen. P. Bain, \ P. A. Cole and V. L. Robinson. ’ The treasurer reported a debit balance at the Bank of New Zealand amounting to £759 9s Bd. Receipts since the last meeting totalled £46 5s 3d. Accounts amounting to £2 16s 9d were passed for payment. The chairman referred to the recent death of Mr George Neich. a valued member of the club. Those present stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of deceased. It was reported that a car had crashed through the racecourse fence on Chester Road and damaged the hedge. The number of the car had been ascertained and as no word had been received from the owner of the car. it was decided to write to him claiming £7 10s as damages. Failing any response from the owner further action is to be taken. The next meeting will be held on August 9.
