LOOT RECOVERED
AMAZING COLLECTION OF GOODS SEIZED BY CHRISTCHURCH POLICE. FOLLOWING ON ARREST BY DETECTIVES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. After arresting a man in the city last night, detectives visited his home and brought to the Central Police Station the most amazing collection of articles seen there for years. The haul includes a cash register, a band saw, a circular saw, two radios, rolls of pei - forated zinc, a sewing machine, three electric motors, clothing, silver ware, clocks, a bicycle, parts of a motor-cat. tires, typewriters. a deck chair, a metronome, and enough plumbers’ and carpenters' tools to outfit several journeymen. The collection filled a room at the Police Station and overflowed into a shed in the backyard. The articles are reckoned to be worth £4OO and are believed by the police to represent the loot of thirty or forty burglaries. A woman who identified her Cabinet radio, told an amazing story. She saw a man leaving her house carrying the radio and called out: "What are you doing with my wireless? “That’s all right, sister,” replied the man, and with a cheery wave of his hand, he hopped on to his bicycle, tucked the radio under his arm, and rode away. Some number plates of, previous years, repainted in this years colours, were also seized by the police. The arrested man. although on relief, had a big motor-car.
