DEFENCE OF BRITAIN

PROVISION FOR TECHNICAL TRAINING. FURTHER EVACUATION AREAS. (British Offiicial Wireless.) RUGBY, July 18. It is announced that enlistment has been opened for youths between the ages of 184- and 191 for training as tradesmen in the various engineering and electrical trades. Those taking advantage of this offer will receive advantage of this offer will receive one month’s basic military training and afterward will be sent to technical centres; on completion of the training they will be posted to corps to fill trade vacancies. The Minister of Home Security, Sir John Anderson, has declared certain coastal areas in East Anglia and southeast England to be evacuation areas for the purpose of the defence regulations. A consequence of this is that persons who have left or are leaving these areas are entitled to relief in respect of rent, rates and certain liabilities relating to their premises and goods.
