Lawther, president of the Mineworkers’ Federation, broadcasting in the 8.8. C. Gorman news service, pledged them to work for the destruction of Nazism. "We are all behind the Government in fighting to overthrow Hitler and his murderous gangsters." he said. Alluding to Communists among the miners. Mr Lawther said: "The Communists and others in the pits know if we fell under the yoke of Hitlerism they would suffer the same fate as your Communists—death.”
